LeEco has just certified a new valuable phone in China; the newly-certified handset looks like a smaller and downgraded version of the Le Max 2. A design of the newly certified LeTV phone that lists on TENAA bearing the codename LeEco LETV722 is identical to that of Le Max 2. However, the phone brings a faster processor (Snapdragon 821) with scarce photography features and a downgraded screen resolution of FHD.

LeEco Lex722 sports a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and it is an excellent photography performing phone due to its 16MP main camera on the back, and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. Le Max 2 sported a 21MP Sony IMX230 CMOS camera sensor with 4K video recording, the new LeEco phone’s 16MP camera is limited to 1080p video shooting. The selfie camera might be the same 1080p unit.

The lone upgrades with the LeTV LeEco LEX722 (LeTV really knows how to add weird names to its devices) consist on the improved Snapdragon 821 chipset (Le Max 2 runs Snapdragon 820) with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage is also non-expandable and the operating system is the same Android 6.0.1. LeEco should consider upgrading its devices to Android Nougat. This is a must for phones of this range with futuristic specs. The other upgrade is related to the battery, the upcoming LeEco Lex722 will be powered by a large 4,000 mAh unit, it seems like LeEco is ditching some hi-end specs for enhanced battery life.

LeEco Lex722 will be measuring dimensions of 151.4 x 73.9 x 7.5 mm, weigh 175 grams, and launch in Gray, Silver, and Gold colors. Phone’s official branding name and launch date remain to be unknown. What we can be sure is that this phone will take Le Max 2’s place as the cheapest phone with 6GB of RAM. Lower specs mean lower pricing anyway.
