Smartisan announced today its high performing China mobile phone flagship. The 5.15-inch Smartisan M1 and the 5.7-inch Smartisan M1L phablet. Both of the handsets are fully-loaded in power thanks to their housing of Qualcomm’s latest chip for mobiles, Snapdragon 821. Smartisan M1 and M1L will be available to order soon in China carrying the price tag of 2,499 Yuan ($370) and 2,799 Yuan ($415) respectively.
Smartisan M1 L specs and features
The premium, and larger, Smartisan M1L is an Android with a sharp screen without notch. It comes rocking a 5.7-inch Sharp 2K display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top of a boxed aluminum unibody design. In the first sight, it looks similarly designed to the Apple iPhone, it also features the same circular multi-functional physical Home button.
A thrilling feature coming with the Smartisan M1 and M1L smartphones is the 23MP Sony IMX318 camera featuring a large f/2.0 aperture lens, hybrid autofocus, 3-axis electronic image stabilization, optical image stabilization, for shooting photos at a maximum resolution of 5488 x 4112 pixels and recording 4K videos. To be noted is that only the camera costs almost as much as this phone. For selfies, both phones pack a 4MP OmiVision OV4688 camera unit with f/2.0 aperture for recording videos at 720p. The selfie camera is a disappointment, a 1080p front-facing camera is a must on a top-notch handset.
The M1L by Smartisan gets powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and comes backed by 4GB of RAM with 32GB storage and 6GB of RAM with 64GB storage (Smartisan M1 is limited to 4GB of RAM with 32GB of storage). Here’s another place where Smartisan could do better, Qualcomm’s latest chip for mobiles can stand too much more internal memory than 32GB for a basic model. Both phones run Android 6 with Smartisan OS skin on top.
In terms of connectivity, Smartisan’s M1L phablet supports two SIM cards, 4G LTE network, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and NFC. This phone’s clicky Home button and front fingerprint sensor embedded in it are shaped similarly to the button on iPhone. The M1L gets powered by a large 4,080 mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Smartisan M1 specs and features
Smartisan M1 comes sharing the most of its DNA with the larger 5.7-inch version, M1L. The 5.15-inch Smartisan M1 smartphone features the same design but with the same 4th generation of Corning Gorilla Glass screen but with downgraded resolution. In this case, the touchscreen display has an FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Mi has the same cameras as the M1L, the same memory, and the same top-notch connectivity supports, but a lesser in-capacity battery of 3,050 mAh. Also supporting Quick Charge tech.
The only thing that can make anyone go for the M1L is its larger display, all other features and support seem to be equalized. Smartisan M1 and M1L will be available in White, Gray, Gold, and Leather models.
