Motorola Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are now official

Motorola Moto G5 Plus

The 5th generation of Motorola Moto G series and the best budget smartphone is now official. Lenovo-owned Motorola participated at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 phone show and announced the budget-friendly mid-range flagship. This year’s members of Moto G-series of phones will be a little different from last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. 2017 edition of Moto G and Moto G Plus phones will come in various sizes (unlike 5.5-inch G4 and G4 Plus) but will be smaller than last year’s flagship. 5-inch and 5.2-inch in respective sizes.

Motorola Moto G5 sports a 5-inch FHD touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 pixels that give it a large pixel density of 441PPI while the slightly larger 5.2-inch Moto G5 Plus that has the same FHD display has a lower pixel-per-inch density of 424. Lenovo Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus sport a metallic aluminum body framing with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protector.

Motorola Moto G5 Plus

Lenovo’s Motorola Moto G5 features a 13MP phase detection autofocus primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, HDR, 8-time digital zoom for photos, and LED flash for recording 1080p videos with 4-time digital zoom. While its larger sibling, Lenovo Moto G5 Plus has a 12MP dual-pixel primary camera featuring a large f/1.7 aperture, HDR, video stabilization, dual-tone LED flash, 8-time digital zoom in photo shooting, and four-time digital zoom support when recording videos at 4K resolution.

Selfie camera on both Motorola phone versions is a 5MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and display flash that supports 1080p video recording.

Motorola Moto G5 Plus

Moto G5 runs the 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with 2GB and 3GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage that supports expansion via microSD by up to 128GB, and Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. The Moto G5 Plus has an improved chipset that’s Snapdragon 625 and it has 2GB and 4GB of RAM versions with 32GB and 64GB of expandable flash memory and Android 7. upgrade.

Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus support 4G LTE network, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a front-mounted fingerprint recognition sensor. The G5 gets powered by a 2,800 mAh battery while the larger G5 Plus has 3,000 mAh battery capacity. Both phones support company’s TurboCharge fast charging technology.  Moto G5 and G5 Plus are water resistant and will be available in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colors.
