Suunto has updated its large collection of sports smartwatches with the newest member, the Suunto Spartan Sport. The Spartan Sport is actually a sleeker version of the lately announced Spartan Ultra and the latest member of the Suunto Spartan watch collection.
Similar to the Spartan Ultra, the Spartan Sport also features advanced water resistance durability where it survives depths of 100 meters (an ISO 6425 certificate backups this claim), features a touch-enabled display with 320 x 300 pixel, and its functions are mostly based on GPS navigation sensor and compass. The default Sport watch does not support a built-in heart rate sensor, but the watch can be paired with a heart rate belt that ships separately. The connected heart rate belt enables heart rate tracking and converts the new Suunto wearable into a perfect running watch with heart rate monitor.
Suunto claims that its entire collection of Spartan multi-sport watches covers over than 80 different sports, and the Spartan Sport is not an exclusion.
The Spartan Sport interacts and syncs data with both, Android and iOS smartphones, it supports over than 80 sports modes and lets you change sports modes on-the-go, enables you to set up goals and coaches your training, is fully operative under extreme weather conditions and is powered by a battery that lasts the whole day long.
Suunto Spartan watch collection is listed as one of the best wearable devices for outdoors. While they might not come with a rugged design to survive drops and extreme stress, they feature uniquely advanced waterproof supports and match to any weather condition. The Spartan Sport will cost $549 while the heart rate strap accessory costs $50.
