ZTE made a fierce debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) yesterday in Barcelona, Spain, where announced the smartphone with world’s fastest internet speed. Coming branded as ZTE Gigabit Phone, the device acquired its name from the download net speed it can acquire, up to 1Gbps, ten times faster than the best 4G LTE current device. Gigabit Internet speeds will soon be a norm once 5G smartphones start rolling out.
ZTE considers its Gigabit Phone as a pre-5G device that can offer 5G connectivity years ahead of technology becoming a reality. ZTE’s Gigabit Phone is also the first to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset (just outraced Samsung Galaxy S8) that integrates a Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE modem and utilizes a combination of carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO antenna technology with 256-QAM modulation to offer what ZTE calls 10-times faster connectivity than the current LTE technology can offer.
ZTE has a clear agenda on its mind, developing faster Internet connectivity.
We are thrilled to introduce the world’s first smartphone with download speeds up to 1Gbps. With the new device, the way people stay connected will be changed forever.” said a ZTE spokesperson. “Focusing on 5G technologies will be one of the key priorities of ZTE’s global development. ZTE will be very glad to leverage its technology strength and experience in 5G to cooperate with government and business partners to discuss and facilitate the upcoming 5G era.”
Alongside the Gigabit Phone, ZTE also announced the product made via a close partnership with Intel. The world’s first 5G IT BaseBand Unit. This initiative will be leading global technology closer to the introduction of 5G network and faster Internet speed.
But ZTE is not all about Internet speed in Barcelona. The Chinese manufacturer made a re-introduction of its Azon 7 phone and named it the first China phone with VR to come as Google Daydream ready. They also launched a budget-friendly dual-camera phone named ZTE Blade V8 Mini that sports a 5-inch HD display, 13 + 2MP dual cameras, and 5MP camera on the front. Both cameras have their own LED flash.
The ZTE Blade V8 launched at CES received a fourth sibling, the Blade V8 Lite.
